The Band - The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down

Tue, September 13th.

I had this song in my head all morning and finally had a chance to listen to it while taking a shower here in Denver. Sometimes I'm proud of being raised in Denver, where the history is deep with pioneers, gold seekers, and cowboys. When I'm living in Tokyo, I expect I'll be listening to a lot of classic rock and enjoying the sunshine as I imagine I'm a cowboy in the big city. Who knows, maybe I'll buy some cowboy boots lol.

I drove to Denver last night and I've been hanging out with the lover. We started watching the new Lord of The Rings show and I fell asleep on episode 3. It's an alright show, kind of boring but it's cool they're following the story of The Silmarillion. I mean, they're kind of following it. I think it's kind of lame because they're not following Tolkien's lore of Gandalf and stuff. He arrived in the third age I thought and this character "The Stranger" who came down in the meteor is giving me strong Gandalf vibes. Either that or he's Radagast... I really have no clue.

I had a premonition in the shower. When Kaba is in Tokyo, we should be making as much noise as possible back to the states. Videos that are high energy will reflect well on US audiences I think. Mr Beast does a great job at that but his audience is growing up, perhaps Kaba could show them real rock and roll. I was also thinking about Youtube and monetization. I'm on the fence if Kaba should use copyright music in our weekly videos (Similar to Luis Mora) but more PG13. I'm leaning towards saying fuck monetization and just using copyright music. The money will come through sales and stuff. The videos could be our way of promoting the brand, rather than making the videos our main source of income. At some point we'll start using loyalty free music (for some videos, not all) and we could get some bucks that way. Early on, the audience would be formed quicker if we use music that everyone knows. That way they're relating Kaba to things they already enjoy. Idk just a thought.

I might've said this already but I'm going to become a social media machine out there. Content all the time. I've had some positive experiences with Tik Tok but maybe we'll focus on Instagram more? Not sure. I know the younger audience is on TikTok... Perhaps different content on different platforms. That way people are following us all over.

Since I'm in Denver, I can't really paint but that's okay. I brought the iPad and I'll find time later to create. The artist FvckRender did a Q & A on Instagram yesterday and they asked "How do you keep up with your creativity" or something to that effect. His answer was that he's not always feeling creative but when he feels the tad bit creative he'll jump on it and ride it till its dust. That wasn't his exact wording. It's true though, creativity is like a wave and you either pass under it and continue sitting in the ocean or you stand up and ride the fucker.

Hmm.. Not sure what else to talk about. Did I mention the new book I'm reading? It's called Tokyo Junkie by Robert Whiting. The dude has spent his entire life living in Tokyo (He's originally from a small town in California called Eureka). The dude is good with words and this book covers 60+ years of life in Tokyo as a foreigner. The first chapter is set in 1962 when Tokyo is preparing for the Olympics and they essentially gutted the whole city and remade it. I'm hoping I can enjoy the city as much as Whiting.
