There's a routine I'll miss here at my place; getting water every few days. My home isn't connected to the city water (the good tap at least) and it's actually quite mineral-ee. All the sinks and showers, toilets, and sprinkler systems that connect to this base water get crystals outside their orifice. When I go to get water, I'm literally taking a 3 gallon water jug to our good water supply. It's a walk but damn it's nice. This morning I snagged some water for the house and this Saib song was playing in the darkness. Good feeling all around.
Yesterday I blew up on those shoes. Haha wtf idk. I painted them. I even painted the box. Here are some photos...
I'm really happy with the color choices on this project. Reminds me of Denver Nuggets colors actually ahaha. I'll be sending DJ everything seen above and I'll package it nicely, put it in a new box, send some other goodies to him. Since I'm moving, I figured I should show my appreciation towards him by giving the dude some extra stuff.
See that paint palette in the last slide? I've been trying to send every person who orders a painted piece of X or Y their relative paint palette. Because I'm making these palettes with cardboard, I've got a lot of them so each is original to the painted I started. I'm saying it now, and it would be real funny if it becomes true... These paint palettes will be the real collectible pieces for Kaba stuff. I say this because I'm familiar with collector culture. My mom is a Snoopy fiend and last Christmas I spent way too much money on getting her this tiny piano for her collection. The thing is, this piano is like just a piano toy for Schroeder but because it's so small, people were losing them a lot. If you had the piano along with the Schroeder figure however, you've got a finished set. Hence why I'm thinking these paint palettes will be the finishing touch to a Kaba piece.
I'll need to visit Michaels later and grab some Angelus Acrylic Finisher or something. For my skate decks, I use a Varathane water based polyurethane spray but that won't cut it for fabric. I'll do that later and then send these off tomorrow. Hope he likes the finished product!
I'll also be sending off the Jaan custom deck. It's complete and I know if I add anything more to it, it'll just become a mess. Virgil Abloh was constantly talking about the 3% rule (Where you only change something 3% for someone to truly enjoy it). I definitely changed this deck up a lot from the original Andy Anderson graphic but I'm saying it's 3% Kaba lol. I could go extreme on the deck and it would be a mess. I'm not going for that this time.
