Harry in Winter - Patrick Doyle

Fri, July 29th.

I've been not exactly busy but my mornings and nights have been dedicated to something beyond this blog.

Normally I'd be posting on here in the morning or very late at night but you see, I spent a few hundred dollars on new painting supplies and canvas. I splurged and bought myself this wooden easel that's also a case. It's something a dedicated painter would have and now I've got one. I like it. Bought some new acrylic paints too, higher quality than what I've used before. (I would mention the names of the new things I bought but I'm too lazy right now to do that.)

This new painting I just made is literally me following in KAWS footsteps. I really like it. Pictures of this art will appear on my instagram soon!

Man I'm really not opening up for this blog post, I should be more detailed with this so I can look at it later in life. Shit... Okay.

The paints I bought are called Winsor & Newton. I liked that they're in this like... soft metal tube? Can't really explain it. I got a few basic colors because the paints were $5 a piece. I went with Ivory Black, Titanium White, Cerulean Blue, Cadmium Yellow, and Cadmium Red. Basic colors but they're perfect because I know how to mix paint. Why spend money on crazy colors when you can mix it yourself? I'm not sure what the easel brand is but it's not the highest quality. I've already lost one washer for the damn ting.

The canvas I bought is massive. Probably 4' x 5'. I went to Home Depot and bought nice paint, got it mixed by a gentleman. I also bought a painting tarp and some rolling brushes. I went and rolled the paint onto the canvas for a clean background. The color I went with is called... Desert Sand.

After doing all that I used my POSCA paint pen (black) and drew a Skeleboy. I love my POSCA, it's just a fun brand and the markers work really well. After doing that, I mixed the Cadmium Red with a bit of Ivory Black and got a nice dark red, kind of like a Château Lafite Rothschild wine. I just looked up expensive red wine. I threw that dark red color onto the canvas in a circle form, let it dry and then drew a large circle near that circle. After all this I thought it had some dead space above the drawings so I wrote KABA in big letter.

The thing I like most about this painting I did is the signature on the bottom right. It's just KABA written in nice large letters, followed by the © symbol. Classic look I think.

If you want to see pics... INSTAGRAM. It's called HELLO SUN.
