Desert Sand Feels Warm at Night - 指を流れる砂

Tue, August 23rd.

When I was house sitting for this woman in Lyons a few months back, she had left me with three dogs and a few chickens. The mornings would be interesting because I’d wake up to chickens crying in their cage around 5:00 am. I’d hop out of bed and let them outside, take a hit of weed and then be up. I wasn’t getting more than 4 hours of sleep a night while watching her place but those early mornings were special. She had this single story home with a kitchen and living room attached to each other, so I’d smoke, get on my laptop, hook it up to Bluetooth and play music through her giant speakers. One morning while searching for new music I found this artist, Desert Sand Feels Warm at Night. I played a compilation of his stuff on YouTube and this was track one. With the AC blasting at my face, high as a kite and sitting with the rising sun, this music was a perfect thing. This was around the time I found out about Pool Rooms too so I was really in a special place. The morning I found this music is actually the morning I decided to start the Skulls of Salad Bar series. Ughh… oh and this music, if you ever have to work a late night shift and you are alone in the nighttime, perhaps driving around an empty city street or even just closing shop, put some headphones on and bump this. You’ll feel great, like you’re surfing in a ketamine cloud or something.

I didn’t start this blog post until way late at night so the day is really over. I got into Denver yesterday and it’s been my goal to cut back on Kratom. I’ve been mostly unsuccessful and I caved a bit today. Had about a gram and I’m still wanting more. The amount of back pain I experience without kratom is wild. Something about this surf trip I had as a young kid just ruined my body. My brothers and I used to live in Hawaii and we hiked into an area hidden on the big island that just felt magical. Trees were full of old cars that fell off the road trying to get into this valley and once you’re in it, the fucking water is beautiful. If you like big waves, search for ****** ********* haha I’m not giving this secret spot away. Anyways, I wrecked my back there while surfing and it’s actually the reason I got my medical card in 11th grade.
