Sat, September 24th.
Just drove back from Denver and this song started playing as I walked into my house. It's such a strong piece of music, really enjoy the way it waves inside my head.
I've been waking up at 5:00 AM this whole week and I'm enjoying it but damn am I exhausted. I don't drink caffeine, never really have, and I'm glad I dont, but ooh how different my mornings would be if I did.
I've got some homework due tonight for school and I get so tired around 5:00 PM... Ughhhhh I don't even want to think about what I need to do tonight for school. Oh yeah and I'm working late with my normal job so I'll be up til about 12:30 AM. We shall see if I wake up early tomorrow.
On the drive over, I started thinking about Kaba and how this brand can thrive. I was thinking about other Colorado skate brands and their strengths. They all seem to build community through events and shit. I have never been one to do something like that, I hate being around people for the most part. When I am around people, I'm a joy, but in all honesty I'd rather be at home with either myself or someone I care about. My favorite time is just quality me time. Painting, watching Youtube, reading, whatever. Just the idea of hosting a big event and then being the life of it seems so draining.
So that's a plus I've noticed with these brands. A negative that I've noticed is... They're all kind of lame? I don't want to specify any Colorado skate brands but there's a few. I've noticed they're all posting content on Instagram with their logos heavily watermarked onto the content, they don't let the video start naturally, they always have this opening to show their brand, and then they pick really lame music. After I got 550k views on an Instagram Reel, I feel like I run this shit lol. Kind of not really. But I'm serious with their lameness, it's like... they don't feel organic? It feels like a dying breath, something they're pushing to get big but they don't have any foundation under them. I'm sure a few will get onto the bigger scene but I know a certain few that are destined for failure.
Where is Kaba heading? That's the greatest question of our generation. It's going to go forward, left, right, backwards, and inwards. It will grow and then it will find a footing and grow some more. The time for being stagnant is gone and now it's time to build. Ughhh... Yeah lol. I would make a terrible General. "Alright Men! Now we fight!" lol.
